FAQ : BOOKING VWGC FOR YOUR WEDDING/EVENT
How do we book VWGC?
The booking process is really easy. Once we’ve checked and confirmed our availability for your event, we just need to know :
- How many singers you would like?
- How long you would like us to perform for (eg Ceremony or Drinks Reception – or both!)
Once we have this information, we will send you a booking form to complete and return with all the important details included – such as venue, date, timings.
The deposit (50%) is also required to secure the booking, but you won’t have to pay the balance until 3 weeks prior to the performance date. All payments are made by BACS transfer.
How many singers should we book?
We usually perform at weddings/events with between 3-6 singers, although we have also provided solo singers and a group as large as 20! All of our singers always use microphones, so the overall volume is not affected by having a different sized group. In addition, all of our songs are arranged to sound fabulous with 3 or more singers. The main factors to decide which line-up to choose are :
- Space
- Visual preference
- Audio (more singers creates a thicker texture of sound)
- Budget
Can you learn our favourite song?
Yes! As part of a booking, we can usually learn one special request especially for you. The only requirements are that the lyrics are in English and the music is suitable for our group to perform (for example pop, soul, rock or gospel). Additional requests can cost between £90-£200 each.
Can we choose the singers that perform?
You are very welcome to request specific singers to be included in the line-up. We will always do our best to include at least one of them (this is always subject to availability).
How long in advance should we book you?
We can get booked up to 2 years in advance, so if you already know your event date – avoid disappointment and don’t delay booking us!
How many songs will you perform?
A standard booking at a wedding ceremony is for 6 songs (plus any congregation hymns at church weddings). One example of how VWGC can contribute to your ceremony is :
3 Songs – Around 10 minutes before the ceremony starts
1 Song – For the entrance
2 Songs – During the signing of the document
1 Song – For the exit
(The above format is totally flexible – so just let us know if you have any other ideas and we will help make them work)
During a drinks reception or other event, we will usually perform 20+ songs in 1.5 hours (standard booking length).
Do we choose our songs?
Wedding Ceremonies : Most couples choose these songs and we are always very happy to help you, but appreciate musical tastes are very personal! VWGC has a huge list of songs for you to choose from – from uplifting and feel good tunes, to emotional ballads for the entrance.
Drinks Receptions/Events : Clients normally leave the set list up to us or give us some guidance of the overall feel and atmosphere that they want us to contribute to.
Can you sing at civil or humanist ceremonies?
Absolutely! The only thing that to point out is that registrars will not generally allow us to sing any religious songs during civil ceremonies.
Are the singers accompanied?
We perform with accompaniment from either electric piano or backing tracks (one of the singers will be playing the electric piano which we will bring with us). The 3 singer line-up normally only performs accompanied by backing tracks (unless the choir director is one of the trio). At drinks receptions, we usually perform with backing tracks unless you specify that you want us to sing with piano accompaniment.
Can you perform outside?
Definitely – as long as it’s dry or there is cover for us and our equipment in case of rain.
What equipment do you use?
Individual dynamic microphones, Bose mixing desk/speaker and a Nord or Roland electric piano (if applicable).
What do you need to perform?
Ideally, we need access to a standard power socket (within 5 metres). However, we also have battery powered equipment – so we can actually perform anywhere (always let us know in advance if there is no electricity available for us)!
Can you do a flashmob?
Yes – we love being a surprise, so are always happy to do this!
What do we need to do next?
Just email us at info@vocalworks.co.uk and confirm the booking – we will then send you paperwork!
