FAQ : BOOKING INFORMATION
How do we book VWGC?
The booking process is really easy. Once we’ve checked and confirmed our availability for your event, we just need to know :
- How many singers you would like?
- How long you would like us to perform for
Once we have this information, we will send you a booking form to complete and return with all the important details included – such as venue, date, timings.
For bookings made over one month in advance : The deposit (50%) is also required to secure the booking, but you won’t have to pay the balance until 3 weeks prior to the performance date. All payments are made by BACS transfer.
For bookings made less than one month in advance : The full payment is required at time of booking. All payments are made by BACS transfer.
How many singers should we book?
We usually perform with between 3-6 singers, although we can provide a larger group subject to availability. Our singers always use microphones (for line-ups of 3-6 singers), so the overall volume is not affected by having a different sized group. In addition, all of our songs are arranged with 3 or more singers in mind. The main factors to decide which line-up to choose are :
- Space
- Visual preference
- Audio (more singers creates a thicker texture of sound)
- Budget
Can you learn a special request?
With enough notice, we can potentially learn one special request especially for your event – please ask for clarification as early as possible in the booking process. The requirements are that the lyrics are in English and the music is suitable for our group to perform (for example pop, soul, rock or gospel). Additional requests can cost between £120-£200 each.
Can we choose the singers that perform?
You are very welcome to request specific singers to be included in the line-up (this is always subject to availability).
How many songs will you perform?
A standard booking at a funeral service is for up to 6 songs (plus any congregation hymns). One example of how VWGC can contribute to the service is :
3 Songs – Around 10 minutes before the service starts
1 Song – At the beginning
1 Song – As a moment of reflection
1 Song – For the committal
(The above format is totally flexible – so just let us know if you have any other ideas and we will help make them work)
During a wake or other event, we will usually perform 20+ songs in 1.5 hours (standard booking length).
Do we choose our songs?
Funeral Services : Yes, we are always very happy to help you with selections, but appreciate that musical tastes are very personal.
Receptions/Events : You are welcome to give us guidance of the overall musical feel and atmosphere that they want us to create.
Can you sing at all types of funeral service?
Yes – we can perform at any event.
Are the singers accompanied?
We perform with accompaniment from either electric piano or backing tracks (one of the singers will also be playing the electric piano which we will bring with us).
Can you perform outside?
Definitely – as long as it’s dry or there is cover for us and our equipment in case of rain.
What equipment do you use and is it PAT tested?
Individual dynamic microphones, Bose mixing desk/speaker and a Nord or Roland electric piano (if applicable). All of our equipment is PAT tested each year.
What do you need to perform?
Ideally, we need access to a standard power socket (within 5 metres). However, we also have battery powered equipment – so we can actually perform anywhere (always let us know in advance if there is no electricity available for us)!
What is the next step to booking VWGC?
Just email us at info@vocalworks.co.uk and confirm the booking details – we will then send you paperwork.
